Claypipe Knockcroghery are victorious in final

Darts news:

The final of the Roscommon County Darts Shield and Cup were held in the Hideaway Bar, Boyle on Sunday week last.

The Shield Final was to take place at 3 p.m. between Sissies of Castlerea and The Hatch, Ballaghaderreen. The Castlerea team failed to show up on the day and the final was awarded to The Hatch who also received a cheque for £100.

In the Cup Final, The Claypipe Knockcroghery and The Sportsmans Roscommon met in the decider. The final comprised of three doubles and six singles (501), best of five games.

After the three doubles, Knockcroghery led by two games to one. They went on to win the first three singles which gave them victory on the day. This was an excellent performance by both teams which saw Roscommon throwing 24 tonne pluses and one maximum 180 scored by J. Dolan who then followed with a check-out of 77.

On the other hand, Knockcroghery were the stronger outfit on the day with a total of 31 tonne pluses. The Willie Tiernan Perpetual Cup was presented by sponsor Willie Tiernan to Knockcroghery captain Mick Egan alongside a cheque for £300.
